FAQ

  • The Blackberry Fields welcomes all family members!

    Strollers

Our farm is mostly flat so strollers are welcome but keep in mind our farm has dirt, mulch, and grass. Bring extra water due to summer heat.

    Attire

Please make sure everyone has a hat to protect little faces from sunburn. Children often will sneak a few berries for a snack so we highly recommend wearing clothes that can be stained purple or dark clothes that won’t show the purple color. Please make sure all family and friends wear closed toed shoes, boots preferred, due to wildlife on the premises. We are a nature friendly farm so wildlife are prolific. Please be cautious and aware of your surroundings at all times.

  • The Blackberry Fields will supply the picking baskets which come in multiple weights and sizes to choose from. Cost is determined by the size basket chosen.

  • We understand the want & need to do a taste test of our blackberries. How can you resist? They are amazing!

Please just be respectful and only eat a couple so that we have enough berries for everyone to pick and enjoy. Please have the intention that almost all berries picked are to fill your basket and not your bellies out in the fields.

  • The Blackberry Fields takes both cash and card. Our farm does not have the best connectivity, so {if possible} bring cash just in case our internet doesn’t want to work!

  • Blackberries ripen at all different times. You will see green unripe berries and red tart berries right beside black ripe berries. Please do not pick any blackberries that are green or red, those will not be sweet. Blackberries that are black can still be tart if black and shiny. The sweetest berries are those that are black and dull. The image on this page is the guide for picking berries.

Keep in mind the following key points:

    Black and dull are sweet

Black and shiny are sweet & tart

    Red are tart

    Don't pick green berries!

  • Our farm works on a first come first serve basis. Every season will vary!

  • We do not allow picnics at our farm. Due to limited parking, we please ask families to come for the purpose of picking berries and making memories.

  • Field Trips for homeschool groups are welcome! Please call to schedule.

  • Each year this will change! Due to our plants being subject to nature and weather, our farm will open based on when our berries are ready. Please see our social media for the most current information.

Our hours of operation will also change day by day! We sell baskets on a first-come-first-serve basis. If we see our farm is almost stripped of ripe berries then we will close up for the day. Please check our social media for the most current information.
